These images were taken on or around the islands and rocks which collectively make up The Umbrellas. A grouping of islands that is a moderate distance from the shoreline. It feels a little like you’re going to fall of the edge of the world, as the group of islands doesn’t appear on many charts or maps of the area, including Google Maps.
We have on occasion power boated out there, but we pride our selves on having Kayaked out there on many occasions as well.
Officially the Georgian Bay Land Trust owns the largest island. Its implied from the GBLT’s posted signage that there is no camping or fires allowed at the Umbrellas, this true for the big island. The other small islands, islandets, and rocks, however are Crown land. So different rules apply.
